SOFTWARE ENGINEER & TECHNICAL LEADERSpringfield, Missouri

From idea.To production.

I build software, infrastructure platforms and production AI. From an ISP's first customer to AWS's global network and Salesforce Edge.

Focused on principal engineering
and hands-on individual-contributor roles.

PRODUCTION AI & ENGINEERING OPERATIONS

Production AI.
Built for operations.

Edge Harness turns operational knowledge into reusable agents for on-call triage, Slack support responses and diagnostics, in Claude Code and production SDK-based server automation.

OnCall Force is a separate terminal console for metrics, AI alert triage, correlation and automatic resolution.

WORKFLOW-BASED OPERATIONS

Host operations without
direct server access.

I delivered the transition from direct host access to automated operations. I deployed Temporal through Puppet and built workflows replacing operations on the Edge team's Linux bare-metal hosts running Docker Compose.

AMAZON WEB SERVICES / RELIABILITY04

Software for a
global network.

From noisy signals to guarded recovery.

I designed and implemented automated recovery for interface and BGP failures across AWS's global Border/Backbone network. Device-agnostic interfaces and reusable operations enabled network engineers to build recovery workflows.

IBM / TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP05

A team for
network automation.

Enterprise networks for a global tire manufacturer.

IBM formed a dedicated Network Tools and Automation team around me, with two engineers reporting to me. I led technical direction and stayed hands-on in architecture, implementation and customer coordination across office and manufacturing networks.

I built a browser-side JavaScript integration to reconcile discovery and inventory data across isolated backends, replacing several engineer-hours of manual spreadsheet work each day.

ARBITAL / CTO & FOUNDING ENGINEER06

The foundation
of an ISP.

The network. The software. The first customer.

I built the initial network, infrastructure and operating software, then led technical work as Arbital grew beyond 15,000 active customers. The integrated operating platform covered dozens of business and engineering use cases.

I also conceived and launched IPTV as a new revenue stream, evolving multicast into Nginx-based unicast delivery.

AEON / INFRASTRUCTURE07

A new orbit for
a legacy game.

Modern delivery around an existing application.

I modernized a 2009-era PHP game for containers and Kubernetes through packaging, runtime configuration and deployment changes. Built Helm delivery and ArgoCD GitOps with versioned releases, rollback and self-healing reconciliation.

My work spanned resilient Linux infrastructure, hosting migrations, backup and recovery, and the operational path from code to production.

02 / THE ENGINEER BEHIND THE SYSTEMSHANDS-ON. END TO END.
Ruslan Botashev

A builder,
at every scale.

Software engineering. Deep DevOps expertise. A strong networking foundation.

I started by building the technology behind an ISP, from connecting the first customer to writing the software that ran the business. At AWS, I developed software for global network reliability. At Salesforce, I turned engineering operations into reusable platforms.

I take projects from an idea through architecture, implementation and production. I work across languages and stacks, choosing tools to fit the problem, and help other engineers build on the result.

Feb 2021 — Aug 2026SalesforceSenior Software EngineerBellevue, Washington, USA
FEBRUARY 2021 — AUGUST 2026

Infrastructure automation platforms and production AI agents for Salesforce Edge's tier-0 service.

Delivered Edge Harness, OnCall Force and Temporal host operations, created EdgeFlow, and engineered guarded multi-region release automation across 46 deployment groups.

I also onboarded and mentored two graduates in their first engineering jobs, teaching coding and reliability practices drawn from AWS network automation. Both successfully took on their assigned work and became engineers I could trust with those responsibilities.

Nov 2016 — Jan 2021Amazon Web ServicesSystems Development Engineer / IIDublin, Ireland → Seattle, Washington, USA
NOVEMBER 2016 — JANUARY 2021

Software for detection, investigation and recovery across AWS's global network, in Dublin and Seattle.

Built remediation, correlation and reusable device abstractions. Co-designed and implemented components of a modular platform migration, and helped the team execute the production cutover.

Nov 2014 — Sep 2016IBMSenior Network Automation EngineerBrno, Czech Republic
NOVEMBER 2014 — SEPTEMBER 2016

Led a dedicated Network Tools and Automation team for a global tire manufacturer, with two engineers reporting to me.

IBM formed the team around me. I remained hands-on in architecture, implementation and customer coordination, replaced manual reconciliation with browser-side integration, and received an IBM service-excellence award.
